If you have missed a pill or taken it later than usual then that can be enough to cause breakthrough bleeding. If you have been taking your pills consistently then it may be a sign that your pill isn't strong enough. I had to go through 5 or 6 different pills until I found one that didn't eventually give me breakthrough bleeding. It would be fine for the first three months, then I'd start getting breakthrough bleeding all the time and have to change doses.

Maybe the pill the doctor prescribed isnt strong enough for your system. Call your gynnecologist and ask.

did you skip a few doses?? that might be what it is. If not..no clue&sorry.
