VW owns Audi, Lamborghini, Bently, Bugatti, Skoda, and Seat. VW is also Porsche's partner. They share their technology with each other since the first Porsche was made because the man who designed the first VW started another company called Porsche.
The Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Gallardo are mechanically the same car.
The Bently Continental GT has VW passat chassis and an Audi Engine.
The Audi S6 and S8 have lambo V10 engines.
The porsche Cayenne and the VW Toureg share the same chassis.
AND SO ON.....

It is true....Audi AG owns Automobili Lamborghini SpA. Audi AG is part of the Volkswagen group.
On July 27, 1998 Audi AG became the single owner of all Automobili Lamborghini SpA shares, the necessary paperwork was finalized on August 4. The entire Board of Director was replaced by managers from Audi AG on November 4, 1998 and during 1999 Automobili Lamborghini SpA was transformed into a holding, managed by Franz-Jozef Pfaefgen, helped by Vittorio Di Capua and Rodolfo Rocchio.
FYI, here is the history of Lambo ownership over the past 2 decades:
In April 1987, the U.S. car manufacturer Chrysler bought 100% of the company's shares.
In January 1994, Chrysler sold Lamborghini to Megatech, part of the Indonesian Sedtco Group. In 1995, it changed hands again, with 60% of the shares being taken by V'Power, a company controlled by "Tommy" Suharto. The other 40% were bought by Mycom, a Malaysian investment company.
At the beginning of 1998, AUDI AG entered into negotiations on the possibility of technical cooperation.

hmmmm prefer german huh.... than why does Ferrari beat Mercedes and BMW EVERY year in Formula One. Even in Le Mans Ferraris spank those kraut's @sses. Your talking about german cars in terms of heated seats and less oil changes than actual horsepower, balance, aerodynamics and everything that makes a good race/sports car. If i had the money there's no chance in hell if i can only buy ONE good car that I would buy those german shoeboxes over a Italian piece of art not to mention the racing technology like F1 transmission carbon ceramic brakes and rev range up into 13,000 rpm and titanium valves and all that. Please.... that's such a joke picking a Audi or Lamborghini but Ferrari beats them both. Howcome Ferrari has won the most races in history ever if the Germans are so great... great and making a sofa on wheels and not an actual race car.... poor krauts...

Actually Volkswagon owns both and uses styling cues from Audi to help improve the interior fit and finish of the Lamborghini's. This is why they've improved so much from the days of the Countach.
