Bush should be willing to send his own flesh and blood to the effort, if he truly believes his war is righteous. Shouldn't the Bush girls be proud to support their father? Shouldn't they fight alongside their sisters in this war? Any opinions?

Sorry doc, no bra burner here. But, you are showing your age.

I believe that something, such as drafting only males, is only that way until it is changed. What a good idea. Thank you.

Dear Dustpan- is it your position that service in Irag is punishment for having committed some horrible crime?

I believe if politicians, all politicians, had real and tragic personal losses at stake, the war option would have a different face.

All of your answers are appreciated and most are thoughtful. Thank you for exposing the heart of this war issue.

Without a doubt!!!!!!!! Some people seem to miss the point! If you DO NOT SUPPORT the war, then there is NOTHING wrong with not being willing to go to Iraq or send your loved ones there!

It is the people who DO SUPPORT the war, YET are STILL UNWILLING to go to Iraq or to send their loved ones there, who ARE the HYPOCRITES, and who are wrong!!!

I don't think there should be *any* compulsory military enlistment. If people believe a war is just, and are willing to fight for it, then they will. However, if a person decides a war is unjust, it is unethical to try to force that person to kill others.

Regardless of my own personal opinions, and yours, and everyone else's, there will probably not be a draft. Recently President Bush was interviewed on the PBS program "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer", and stated that he thinks voluntary enlistment is working fine, that he doesn't think we need a draft, and that he has no plans to try to reinstate one.

If the draft is reinstated then President Bush's daughters may be eligible. The new draft will certainly try to include women as there are more and more women in the military. Our government will certainly not pass up this opportunity to increase our military strength. Whether they serve is the million dollar question.

At this point in time, military service is voluntary. Apparently they, Jenna and Barbara Bush, have decided to focus on non-military endeavors. Their father can't force them to enlist if it is not their choice. He can encourage and try to persuade them, if he really is willing to have them serve. However, that is another big bucks question we'll never have answered.

Since there is not an active draft...I would have to say no. But if the draft was active, then yes. They should be right in line to be drafted like every male that is registered.

When there was a draft LBJ's (democrat) daughters sat out the Vietnam War. LBJ is responsible for a good number of the 58,202 American soldiers who died in Vietnam, based on LBJ's Gulf of Tonkin lie.
Did Harry Trumen send his daughter to Korea?

Yes I agree, Republicans have a long history of asking others to do the dirty work for them while they sit it out. Also note the list of war dead (3029) no Generals on that list. The Generals get to "cut and run" just like the Republicans accuse the Democrats of doing..

That's their decision, not his. Bush cannot force his girls into the war, and they made 0 decisions to go to war. Your question is insulting, assumptuous and degrading to women and our leaders who are struggling to protect our great country.

And 80% of the military votes Republican. The libs always whine when a war disrupts their good times, but when do they go out and fight for that right to whine??? Instead of bashing the Republicans, who are fighting for your right to even be on the internet, shouldn't you be bashing the libs, who never fight, but always are the first to complain?

Allthough I really want to say YES! YES! YES!(because I HATE "W" and his vendetta...er...war), I would be a hypocrite if I did. I don't agree with the draft, it is government funded, legalized kidnapping in my opinion. If the draft is ever reinstated I will be one of the first to protest.

If a draft is called for, yes. Theres no need to train them, they'd never see combat.
