Why is this. I know so many people who I would consider decent looking, all the way to people I'd consider hot, who seem to think theyre ugly, mostly females..Though I have heard some guys, though I cant really judge their looks..

Why is this, people who cant weigh more then 120-130 who think theyre fat.

People who look fine, and know it, who say theyre ugly..

Mind you, I know people who arent all that attractive to put it nicely, when they ask, I am honest, but jeez, what is with all the good looking people who have such a low self-esteem..

Is this the new trend or something?

I guess what I'm saying to people is: Why are people, who know their fine looking, all of the sudden developing this sucky self image?

Because they are constantly comparing themselves to impossibly flawless images in fashion magazines , television shows and commercials.

Many people don't realize that the images they see portrayed in various formats of media of "flawless" beauties of both sexes are airbrushed, whether electronically or with paint and ink of some sort, etc. AND trust me, make up and lighting does wonders beyond your imagination.

I'm not saying there aren't people that look flawless in real life, but it's not the norm, and even these people look and smell terrible when they first wake up in the morning.

Also another problem is, what's ugly to one person might be really "hot" to another. For instance, a person might think that the chubby Kelly Osbourne is much cuter than the skinny Heidi Klum.

Ever see a thin guy with a fat woman? I've seen this many times. Opposites attract.

I'm 43. I weigh 160, & I'm 5'10". Dark brown hair; olive skin; hazel eyes. I feel skinny; old; ugly.
However, I have a gay 23 year-old & a 37 year-old RN hitting on me at work.
I have no butt, but...everyone grabs it & makes jokes about it.
I think "old men' tend to wear glasses. I don't. Old men tend to be bald; I've got a full head of hair. Old men tend to be fat; I'm anything but.
I also joke & laugh with the best of 'em. I NEED laughter to help me keep my sanity. I think this adds an air of youthfulness. Many people argue with me when I tell them my age, as they think I'm not yet 30.
Maybe from growing up as an ugly duckling & always being picked on? I don't really know.

well I know from experience that growing up I was really funny/geeky looking then as I got older and I "transformed" & people starting noticing me & telling me how beautiful I was, getting more dates, etc, etc, & I never really believe it because I will always see myself how I used to be..and nothing can change that not even any compliment...I guess you can say it is self esteem issues ...this is a good question by the way

They want someone to compliment them! They don't have a sucky self image they just like hearing people saying good things about them.
