You can get salmonella from raw eggs. I'd recommend using ultra-pasteurized eggs or powdered egg whites.

It's for the protein/amino acids. They're low-cal and a complete protein. Egg white and breast milk are the two complete proteins that have all the amino acids.

Is it safe and healthy to drink the contents of the egg

From: Murali
Question: Is it safe and healthy to drink the contents of the egg?

Ans: Eggs contains the high biological value of protein. The raw albumin contains an anti digestive factor that interferes with digestion. Egg also has a compound called avadin, which react with biotin (Vitamin H) and make it unavailable. Both these factors get destroyed on heating. The common infection by eggs is by the salmonella group of organisms. If eggs are well cooked this danger is also prevented. There is no added advantage of eating raw eggs and in fact it is disadvantages to take raw eggs.

Yes..the concept behind that scene was due to protein intake. Though, in reality, you can get the same amount and more protein in other food sources. Also, consuming RAW eggs and other uncooked foods will increase your chances of Salmonella poisoning. Therefore, just eat cooked eggs to be safe.

Yes eggs are a very good source of protein. However, raw eggs can sometimes contain salmonella whih can make you very sick. I would suggest seeking out pasteurized eggs either pasteurized in shell or an egg product. The pasteurization process kills the salmonella so it doesnt make you sick.

Eggs are good for you, high protein, a good food. But not raw! Raw eggs can contain salmonella, so never eat raw eggs, always cook them first.
