Divide

For example if you have one half or 1/2...If you divide 1 by 2 You'd get 0.5

Hope that Helped...Good Luck helping her with Math.

By the way...to turn Decimals into fractions just put it over 10 (plus a zero for each decimal place). So if you have 0.5 you'd put 5 over 10 or 5/10...Then reduce. You can reduce both the numerator and denominator (top and bottom) by 5. You wind up with 1/2.

If you had 0.25 Since you have 2 decimal places you'd have 25 over 100 (2 zeros)...so you have 25/100. Once again reduce. You can reduce both numerator and denominator by 25. You wind up with 1/4.

Hope that helps you later on...

Divide the numerator (top number) of the fraction by its denominator (bottom number) and you have the decimal. Use long division to properly carry out the decimal. Notice that you can sometimes get repeating numbers if you do this. For example if you divide 1 by 3 you get 0.3333333...off to infinity.

(Assuming of course you have a niece that wants decimals, not a "nice" who wants "decimels"!)
