I'm due to have my second baby in August. I know for sure this is my last one...actually I thought my first one was my last one, but this one's a little surprise while I was using the Mirena IUD. Anyway, I was planning on getting my tubes cut, tied and burned after the delivery because I figure it wouldn't be that much more pain to go through while I recover from delivery. My husband offered to have a vasectomy instead (what a nice guy!) Do you think it's necessary to go through both? Is it easier for him to recover than me? Which one works better? Any insight on either procedure would help a lot.

The recovery is easier for him. And lets face facts, you will probably be the one taking care of the baby at first for the most part so you don't need one more thing to worry about. Of course you could play it safe and both get it done!

I guess I'm too suspicious of men, so I wouldn't let him do the vasectomy!! Both of you would experience pain from the procedures. And while I never have had it done myself (YET), the longest I have ever known a woman to be in pain from a tubal has been close to 2 weeks. Talk to your doctor too and get all the facts. IF you are scheduled to have a c-section, get the tubal, but bear in mind that nothing is a 100% guarantee other than no sex at all, and honestly, how many of us want THAT?! LOL!! Anyway, just as an added note, it takes the man another 50 or so ejaculations before he becomes sterile. So you have plenty of chances of becoming pregnant with a vasectomy, unless you take care to use a back-up method of birth control until his sperm count is zero. Best wishes!

i accept as true with you that tubal ligation/vasectomy is haram besides the undeniable fact that it exchange into your mom and dad determination not yours, esp because of the fact it fairly is been executed an somewhat long term in the past and that's a private rely between the couple in contact i've got self belief you mustn't proceed arguing with your mom approximately it esp considering that she might have had an somewhat solid rationalization for it like wanting to stay healthful and elevate her infants without risking being pregnant issues or another reason she rightfully chosen to maintain to herself.

I was having a scheduled c-section, so I scheduled a tubal ligation at the same time. Absent that circumstance, I'd leave it up to your husband. PLUS, he can be tested to make sure the vasectomy worked, with a tubal you don't know it failed until you end up pregnant again (my doc told me failure rate is 1 in 1000).

If you know its gonna be your last one then I would get the tubal ligation but if your not for sure you should get the IUD its birth control that you don't have to worry about for 10 years.

Have you talked to your doctor because most wont tie the tubes on a woman unless she has three kids and some wont do it until she is 29 years old or older.

If your going to have c-section then you might as well get it done while they have you open. If it is a natural birth, he should have a vasectomy...ALOT less painful then being cut open on your abdomen!!
