I don't get what installing means? I had to install MySQL and Apache and an install screen came up, but I have read that installing is nothing more than unzipping a zip package to a folder. Is this true? Also, I cannot find reliable info on this installation and configuration. Thank You!

Of course, it totally depends on which operating system you have - you neglected to mention.
