I work at a large installation, with lots of cars. I'm a real fan of sporty cars, even four doors, but mainly two doors. From U.S. made to European to made in the East, I like the lot of them. Some of them I'm so impressed with I want to take a pic with my camera phone, but not sure how it would be looked at by the owners. Naturally I wouldn't let the tag be shown. What do you think? Would you care if someone took a pic of your car or truck, maybe put it on the internet with their list of favorite vehicles?

You should ask people before you take a picture and explain to them why you want to do that and what you intend to do with the picture. Some people will say no and others will say yes.

Some people will really like your taking a picture because you really like their vehicle. Others might get very upset because they don't want it to be known that they were at a given place (cheating on their spouse, for example).

My response would depend on the person. There are pictures on my vehicles on the Internet, but that does not mean that I would let just anyone take a picture. I had to get a friend to modify the picture of a truck that I owned because he was so clueless as to leave the license plate showing. Due to this, I would say no to his taking a picture because I would have to check up on him to ensure he is doing what he should.

It is a courtesy to ask permission if the owner can be contacted easily. NEVER show a license plate on the internet. If you make any money from your site then you open yourself up to lawsuit if you use a pic of someone's car , especially if it has been modified or personalized, without permission. A car that is showroom stock may not be that much of a problem.

I a mechanic, and i take pictures of the nice cars I have done work on, I have a picture (taken by the owner) of me sitting in a Dodge Viper. I don't see harm in it, just as long as you don't mass produce the picture, and dont catch the licence plate (or blur it out), that what i do, never had a problem with it. People tend to think,"Man my car must be that cool if my mechanic is taking a picture of it". No harm in trying.

I peersonally own a modified Mitsubishi Eclipse and have been asked to do so. I have no problem with it and see no problem as long as someone doesn't take credit for someone else's work. Some of us put a lot of work into the details and love for someone to notice our hard work but hate for someone else to take the credit for something they didn't or couldn't do. P.S. I have been to a lot of shows and most people I know from there are the same way....they just want credit where it is due.

As for me, I do not mind at all.
If a person has a nice/sporty car, they should expect such a thing and be courteous enough to allow pictures. Best thing to do is to ask first if the owner is around, but otherwise it shouldn't be a big deal.

I have no objections, so long as I'm not in the picture and my plate number is removed.

I have a 30th Anniversary Mercury Cougar in fairly decent condition. I like talking about it, and I like when people admire it.

Theres no law against you taking pictures of cars. Out of respect however, you should not take pictures of people's cars without permission, unless you are at a car show of course.

I wouldn't mind at all. it's just a picture. It wouldn't harm my car a bit.
But you can't blame others if they mind... probably due to security reasons.
If you want pictures of cars....just surf the net, visit car manufacturer's or dealer's website and you're sure to find them.
Taking pictures of other people might mistaken you as a carnapper, assassin or someone who wants to do you harm.
