I live on the South East coast of the USA. Since the hurricanes tend to head this direction from Africa I figured the warm weather would have a more direct effect. Does that make sense?

No. Hurricane development and strength depends on a whole list of variables such as sea surface temperatures and upper level wind shear conditions to name a couple. Most of the tropical waves that come off the coast of Africa never even develop into a tropical depression because the all the ingredients needed for a hurricane to develop never fall in place. Also remember that your location my be warmer than normal this winter while someone else's location may be colder than normal.

No, because it's cooling off now. And actually we had a really warm summer (I live in NC) and a super warm fall. So using your logic we should have had a busy year this year as the hurricane season doesn't end until December 1st. But we didn't. So applying your logic, no I wouldn't think this year would be busier than normal. If we were to have a busy year it would be based on several other factors, as an earlier answerer has stated.

hurricanes are made from warm water in the ocean and the high and low pressure of the air mass.
so there will be more powerful hurricanes 2 come.

I wouldn't be surprised. To the best of my knowledge every time we have a mild winter we have an active hurricane season.
