Man - not fun. What helps is age - there will be a point where the car ride is not an issue for him. You might try some favorite music of his, a special toy only for the car, but really until he can stand it he will be crying. And yes its up to you to adjust your attitude, there just may be nothing you can do. What is important is that you drive safely, and being able to ignore the crying is just as important as not letting the child cry, actually more important. If you can't ignore the crying maybe you shouldn't be driving. If you can, he will get accustomed to the car seat and eventually associate the car ride with new sights and experiences - and it would become a good thing. Went through this with my oldest, once he figured out that we went in the car to go do neat stuff it helped out at lot. Can't recall when that occurred but it was at about 9 months or so.
