Gerald Ford died in December. I was driving by my town hall today. I noticed that it's still at half staff. Is it at half staff because we're still mourning Gerald Ford's death?

Yep.

"I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, in honor and tribute to the memory of Gerald R. Ford, and as an expression of public sorrow, do hereby direct that the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff at the White House and on all buildings, grounds, and Naval vessels of the United States for a period of 30 days from the day of his death."

The flag will proceed to be at 0.5 team from daybreak ( reville ) till sunset ( retreat ) except the flag is illuminated ( meaning there is mild confronted upon the flag so all can see that a flag is flying. no matter if it truly is not illuminated, neither is it an " alls - weathers " flag, then in reality fly it for the time of daybreak and sunset. this can be repeated till the day he's Buried, and then till the Presidents order to launch 0.5 team.

Uhhh... Yes actually, they stay like that until the end of the month.
So if he died on December 1st, 2006 they would stay up until December 31st, 2006. Get it?
