When I was younger, I used to be so outgoing and friendly. Now as I get older, ( I am 27 right now) I don't even feel like calling anyone besides my mother, husband, and one friend. Everyone else feels almost like a chore. Several times did I almost have to force myself calling someone back. I like it best when I am not bothered. I like to be alone with my pets. It's interesting, but my pets never go on my nerves; with people everything feels like work. I am starting to think that I am very strange. Should I see a psychiatrist?

actually it sounds like you do enjoy a few people (your mom, husband, and your one friend). You can change from extroverted to introverted, and whether you socialize and who with is up to you...unless you really see this as a problem, then in that case you could consult a therapist for a few sessions....you might have some mild depression or simply, you and your social needs have changed...Humans are social animals but their desire and need for it varies greatly from person to person...I actually understand and can relate to where you are coming from and personally, don't see a problem with it at all...

I don't like people that much either. Most times they are cruel and insensitive. There is no law that says you have socialize. If it bothers you see psychiatrist for a consult. There is no harm in that, you may just be suffering from mild depression.

Nah you're not strange, it happens. I went through the same thing and at times still do. There just day's that you want to be left alone. Don't feel like you need to call back I don't and I still have my friends..

i think that its something that comes with age. im 22 and i used to have to be talking to someone. now i dont care to talk to anyone but family. i dont want to make new friends either. i do see a psychiatrist because i am bipolar and that has alot to do with it. i would at least talk to one to be on the safe side.

You are not a people person and you do not need to see psychiatrist. You need to stay to yourself but try to at least go out and be around other people. Problem is people that you know do not fit your personality or simply do not understand you. I have two friends and thats it. People think I am weird but my friends they get me and I can be myself. I love them, I enjoy talking to them and hanging around them. Do not go out your way to make friends let people come to you.

People suck. Theres only a few worth getting to know really well. No one should see a shrink. They need more help than the rest of us.

I think for many of us this is normal. My world consists of my husband, my children and a very select few good friends.

It happens. Just don't quit calling your husband! You're not obligated to be Ms. Popular.

You don't need a shrink, you just like to be left alone. There's nothing wrong with that.
