When I was younger, I used to be so outgoing and friendly. Now as I get older, ( I am 27 right now) I don't even feel like calling anyone besides my mother, husband, and one friend. Everyone else feels almost like a chore. Several times did I almost have to force myself calling someone back. I like it best when I am not bothered. I like to be alone with my pets. It's interesting, but my pets never go on my nerves; with people everything feels like work. I am starting to think that I am very strange. Should I see a psychiatrist?

you might have depression over this issue. Because when you have depression you don't feel like talk to anybody or do the things that you used to enjoy to do. So I recommend you see a psychologist.

Interesting. I am the same way, but I am also an "only child". Are you? In my case, I'm used to being by myself and I like it very much. Like you, sometimes I hang out with my mom or maybe one other friend, but not too much. I don't like talking on the phone either. Sometimes I feel that I am strange too, but I think that we are all unique. As long as we are somehow contributing to society in a positive way and we aren't hurting anyone, I think it's okay. I don't think that you should see a shrink. He or she probably has more problems than you.

We live in a neurotic world. If your neurosis doesn't fit with the people around you then find different people.
Or you can learn to be real and find real people.
I don't know if you should see a psychiatrist. If I said "no" then I would be taking responsibility for your life.
Some people don't seem to need a full life. They are happy being absorbed in a talent.

If you decide to be more socialable then don't do it because of guilt. Do it because you see a need to do so in order to compliment your life. Then learn social skills and how to put up a facade. Social skills means pretending at first then seeing how it goes with the people you are around. In my case pretending falls though trying to be something I am not and I am even more miserable.

You sound pretty normal to me. Dealing with more people means dealing with more problems. Limiting contacts is one way to deal with this.
