As much as I hate that woman, I do feel that there is far more to this than a simple case of ignorance based racism.
I've avoided watching Big Brother (voyeurism just isn't my style!) but felt I had to watch this evening so I could make up my own mind about all this. And what I saw has nothing to do with a clash of cultures and everything to do with a clash of classes, aggrevated by selfish game plans, female one-upmanship, ignorance, and the sort of aggression and paranoia caused when you lock a group of people up in a confined space.
Jade is insecure about her upbringing and lack of "culture" and education. That much is obvious. She is a loud noise in a small room.
Shilpa is very well educated and intelligent, as well as very beautiful, and you can tell that she is used to getting her own way (especially around men). She is the centre of attention within a group.
That in itself is a lethal combination, and it was inevitable that they would clash. If you watch them subjectively you will see that Shilpa is usually the antagonist in the arguements, digging just enough to set Jade off and then letting her dig herself into a hole. Jade will shout and scream like a young child and Shilpa will look aloof yet hurt, then sit in a quiet corner whilst the rest of the housemates (mainly the men) placate and sympathise with her. And at the end of the day, this is all just human nature.
However what I find very disturbing and a little disgusting is that the "racism card" is being played (mainly by Shilpa) in a conscious attempt to influence the outcome of the various votes and eventually win the competition. This evening there were no racist remarks made by Jade and yet after their arguement Shilpa's first comment to Cleo in the bedroom was an accusation of racism, followed later by " I am here representing my country".
I know that those inside the house have no idea just what harm their words and actions are causing in the real world. However those outside the house need to take a deep breath and re-assess what has been said rather than jumping on the bandwagon and using the petty arguements of two women to vent their own feelings and frustrations at the racism they feel.

I admire Andrea (above) for her well thought out response. I tuned in too over the past couple of days, to see what all the fuss was about.
I'm afraid I just think Jade is a sad, silly, ignorant little imbecile, Danielle is brainless, and as for Jo... don't get me started. Jealousy, pure and simple.
I nearly choked when I heard Danielle's comment that Shilpa's English is bad. Shilpa's English is better than anyone else's in that house! Shilpa's not a particularly fascinating character, but the fact that she is indirectly hastening the mass career suicide of Jade Goody, Jo O'Moron, and Teddy Sheringham's braindead girlfriend, means that she is doing Britain a great public service and should be rewarded with a huge win.

A while back, Jade got got caught shoplifting a £16 jacket from Tesco, which says it all. Classy lady. *derisive snort* She and the other two are pathetic little bullies in my opinion.

Not so much a racist but most definitely a bully.
Her rant this evening about hating liars was hypocritical to say the least. The other night she was in the kitchen saying to Shilpa "I would not come and kiss you goodnight if i had a problem with you. I would not be talking about you behind your bad and then talk to you. I'm not like that, that's not me"
Well excuse me but has she not been bitching about her behind her back? Come on, is that not lying directly to someones face? Exactly about what she got so hysterically red faces and screaming about tonight? She hates liars. Take a long hard look in the mirror Jade you are a liar and a bully.

This is really about three jealous ignorant women!
Goody, Jo the former singer and Dan who is bedding a bloke twice her age, are poor lost souls who just would have 'ganged' up on any single individual in the belief it gave them strength together. They will all be horrified when they realise it is all on tape - even Goody! With luck the result will be that the 'singers' hope of reviving her career will fail : Teddy Sheringham will throw his bird out of the tree ; and, the Goody mob may decide to go where the sun don't shine anymore.
Hopefully, Carphone Warehouse who back the show will find they are on a loser because they did not care about the foul mouthed language they have been sponsoring.

Yes Andrea above has thought this out properly. In India Shilpa would be idolised by the masses but not particularly her own class. There are many more beautiful girls than Shilpa in Bollywood...she is just one of a number that come and go on the Indian screen. The life of a Bollywood actress is short lived apart from the Kapoor girls and one or two others.

Until now I was defending these people, saying how its all bullying rather than racism. Now that I've seen jack call Shilpa a paki and Danielle say 'she should **** off home,' I've changed my mind. Jade goody's career is now over, Danielle is soon going to get dumped by Ted, Jo will become a reclusive dog breeder who only ventures out for fags and jack, well, I dunno but I hope he burns in hell the racist bastard!

No. Jade Goody is wild with jealousy at Shilpa being gorgeous and is therefore being a bully, yes. I don't think she's racist.
