I don't have the square inches just the measurement of my tape measure.

Plain old inches to square feet.

It's a trick question, but I'll explain why. Inches is a linear measurement, and square feet is area. What you need to do first is figure out what area you want to measure. Measure it in fractions of feet (for example, 5 inches would be 5/12 feet).

Now figure out your area. If it's a rectangle multiply the two sides together. (Feet times feet equals square feet.)

You can not convert inches to square feet. It has to be square inches. There are144 square inches in a square foot. To change square inches to square feet, divide square inches by 144. Example: 72 sq. inches= 72/144= 1/2 or .5 sq ft.
