It seems the Christians I meet have met Christ when there has been hardship like recovering from alcohol, drugs divorce and I was wondering exactly why, why if you didnt need Christ than all of a sudden you clung to him, and if it helped you or made life worse was the decision to follow Jesus yours or when you were hurting was he introduced upon you by someone else as the way to ease the pain in your heart.

The opposite happened to me i lost my faith at a time of hardship. i guess life tends to throw us in certain directions. I like to think there is some sort of reasoning behind everything. but personally religion does feel like it acts as a band aid. i try to put my faith in friends and family they dont let u down.

That is one of the reasons God allows hardship in the world. When people reach rock bottom and are without hope they will reach out to anything, and when they reach out to God they are given the gift of faith.

I was lucky to have known Jesus when I was a child. My grandparents made sure I went to Sunday school. I stopped going to church when I was 14 and later in life I had problems with depression. I went to a christian counsellor after some stressful situations in my life (not as bad as some). After I re found Jesus I found strength, friendship, courage and self worth. It definitely made my life much, much better. I have lived for 8 years without depression since then. The thing is when people think they don't need Christ, they really do and when they finally turn to him, they get what they need. Best wishes.

There's a saying about that, actually. It states the faith is like film, it develops in the dark. When your in the dark and have no place to turn, Jesus is really your light. In him, you find so much good and promising happiness. But when you were with the alcohol and the marriage, you seemed to have no problem, so you wouldn't need a place to turn. And as it been said, once you find Jesus, you'll realize you were the one that was lost. Hope that helps.

I do believe that a lot of people find Christ when they're hurting for whatever reason. It's not just a coincidence though...Our creator does not want us to be hurting so of course he is going to reach down and comfort us, it's up to us to reach and take his hand. I didn't find Christ through hurt...I was brought up in a Christian Home. However, I do find that my relationship with him grows stronger as I go through Struggles. He is the only one who can help me the way I need to be helped. If we listen close enough we can be guided back to joy.

Because we are so busy with our daily lifes, that we don't have the time to seat relax and think, pray or become closer to God until something bad happens to us then we feel depressed, isolated, then we have the time for spiritual matters...

Most meet Jayzuos in court, jail, or prison. The reason for this is that the "average" "christian" is a two faced judgemental naysaying biotch or basturd who takes from everyone for his/her own gain. So called self proclaiming "christians" are about the most disgusting blobs on the face of this planet.
