It is Follow the River by James Alexander Thom. Her real name was Mary Ingles. She was taken from her family farm in the Virginia Settlement in 1755 by the Shawnee. She was pregnant with her third child at the time. The toothless, delusional old woman is named Ghetel. It's a great book that I have read several times and would highly recommend. I actually think I may dig it out and read it again myself.

It sounds like Follow the River by James Alexander Thom. I've read it two or three times. During the French and Indian War, Indians attack a settlement in the Ohio River Vally (I think it was) and kidnap a pregnant woman, her two small sons, and her sister-in-law. It's based on a true story and there was a made for TV movie about it a number of years ago.
