No it's not. otherwise the KKK would have been rounded up and been dealt with long ago! Many of these cowards parading in bed sheets looking like casper the Ghost are the law makers and deciders of law. Judges policemen, lawyers politicians have all been or are in cahoots with the KKK.
Also look at the discrimination against the Red Indian or the Mexican, this is not brought into law by the man in the street its the politicians and law makers again! So racism is alive and well in USA and supported by the lawmakers

racism by itself is not illegal in the US.

However, if you commit a crime that is solely motivated by racial hatred, such an act adds special circumstances to the sentencing if the suspect is found guilty of the crime.

Also, discrimination on the basis of race, if proven in court, can subject a defendant to civil liability.

Additionally, subjecting someone to severe verbal assault which causes extreme emotional distress can be civilly liably in a court of law.

Finally, if a person is threatened with racial epithets such that the person reasonably fears that a battery is imminent, such a threat could be chargeable as a criminal assault with special circumtances.

Racism has been illegal since 1963 civil rights laws. Even if you dont act on it and don't discriminate it is illegal and yes you can be thrown in jail if you think racist thoughts.

In general, no. If your racist actions occur in the workplace it is illegal. There is a fine line between freedom of speech and prohibited speech at work.

It is not illegal however, it could be quite dangerous if not in the right situation. Why would somebody want to practice that crap now anyway?

Ethnocenticity is natural in people. It is legal but if proven as the motivation in a crime against another, is called a hate crime and increased the social state punishment.
