I have a hamster who is at her peak in age, She has been heavy breathing for abotu a month and it looked as though she had wet tail. Then when I got it under control, it looked as though she had a tumor and it is tender when touched as she will now try to bite us. She still has labored breathing and is eating some and drinking very little. I feel she is suffering and I hate seeing her like this. She is really bloated on her bottom side. So do vets or anyone put small animals down?

at this point in time a vet can take care of almost any animal that is fairly common, and hamsters are one that are. if you feel that the animal is suffering then it is your duty as a pet owner to take it to the vet and have her at least checked. if it isn't something treatable, then having her put down is the only option to end the creatures pain.
good luck with your hamster, it really sucks when these things happen, and never gets any easier as you get older. take her in to the vet and hope for the best. best wishes.

That is a crazy story! No, The vets do not hit the hamster over its head. They inject medicine that kills the hamster into his body. It works instantly as soon as the medicine is injected into the body. I had to get my hamster put to sleep about 2 years ago. I was extremely sad and to make it up my dad got me a guinea pig.

Yes, take the poor thing to the vet and hold her while she takes care of it. It's the humane thing to do.

I think you could ask your vet to. or call a small animal specialist.

It is all very quick and painless, and a lot of vets will do this
for free if you know them.

Yes, they are usually given a gas anesthesia to put them under, then given an injection when they are asleep

i would call to ask but usually vets charge quite a bit to put an animal down you will be surprised perhaps you should just let it go peacefully
