You may not receive it, you may receive a tenner of it but get in place NOW!!!!!!!

I have gone without for 8 years and the debt is £32k, read my 360 please on name and shame em!

It is not on top of your benefit, but if you go to work and you receive tax credits they do NOT take this amount into consideration, you could get a million£ a week (Slight exageration obviously) and this does not effect your tax credits.

I have been there i am doing it, and when the debt spirals as mine has it isn't funny. This is due to the CSA gross maladmiinistration and his unwillingness to pay! Get tough with absent parents my @rse

If youre on income support you'll not see any of the child maintenance. If you started working you will get 15% of his earnings if the CSA or whoever now deals with it do thier job right. Tell them as much as you can. But the prob is, my sis doesnt have custody of her child, she went to the csa and gave all her details and still they could not sort out payments to her daughter! She told them time and time again to take her wages and they wouldnt!!!

I've never received a payment from my ex even tho I work but ive still managed to buy my own house and car etc at the age of 26. I dont need his money, I hate him so much I dont want to know he's paying for my son!

I hope it gets sorted, if not, I wish you well, you never know, you could end up as fortunate as me!

It depends what he earns. His maintenance will be assessed according to his wages. Whilst you are on benefits you are supposed to get £10 of the money too but to be honest, I know loads of single parents and not one has ever recieved it. The CSA are a joke anyway and rarely get the maintenance. My friend has been waiting for eleven years for a payment now.
If you are on benefits it is worth telling them his details as otherwise your income might be docked. They take off a certain amount if you don't tell them who the father is unless you have very good reasons for witholding the info.

my son is 11 now but, when he was less then a year old i got public assistance after i left his father. Back then the policy was i HAD TO FILE child support against the father to receive ANY public benefits even his medical coverage. i was told i could not get anything until i filed with child support and while on assistance i would not get the support money the state did. I thankfully was on only a short time like 8 months. I started getting support Thur the mail directly to me after i got off assistance but while on it i did not get the money the father paid. like i said that was 11 years ago things change. the fathers support was only 110 a month still is 110 a month all these years later i refuse to have it increased from what i hear thou if i was still on assistance the state would raise his support.

Well, you can tell where your x works but does your x go form job to job. See, my x just pay child support because I don't trust him to keep a job, so my mind is at ease because my kids have insurance through me. If your x has had a job for awhile yes tell so your x can pay for the insurane if that's what you mean by benefits.

Yeah, the law states you can only have so much money, so if he gives you 10 pounds or 100 pounds you will still receive the same amount you currently get.
Lame i know.

I am too unclear about your question. Are you divorced and seeking child support? If that is so, then yes you should tell where the ex-hubby works. They will automatically deduct your payments throught the court system.

Nope, it's 15% of his gross income, but they will deduct that from what you recive now, so really you will be no better off. Best thing to do is say you don't know where heis, and come to an agreement with him. say you won't sting him for 15%, if he gives you 10% or something.

Child maintenance is on top of any benefits you may get.
