I vote yes. The pros outweigh the cons for me.

Yes. The uniform eliminates a great deal of the teasing and troubles a child should have to suffer in school. It also develops a greater sense of community and downplays some of the differences that kids are so adept at uncovering. It is also useful when preparing students for the life after school in their careers. Uniforms give the young man and women a sense fo class and sophistication that is lacking at times. I'm still in HS and I feel that uniforms would not be so bad in fact it would make choosing what to wear each morning a whole lot more simple.

If I had to wear a uniform, that would distract me more than wearing normal clothes because I would feel very uncomfortable, as I'm sure a lot of other people would too. Uniforms won't eliminate violence or cliques like people think they will. It won't eliminate the teasing either. Kids will still have glasses and braces, will still be overweight or underweight, etc. Some families cannot afford uniforms either. I think clothes can help a person express their individuality.

yes, for a number of reasons:
1. prepares them for life in the real world where we dont always get to choose what we wear (ie: jobs)
2. it is an equalizer amongst students - everyone wears the same thing so others arent picked on for not being able to afford the fashions of the day, or for being slightly different in their choices
3. it is cheaper for parents than constantly buying new clothes
4. provides uniformity at the school
5. emphasises school pride amongst the students
6. Creates a more businesslike atmosphere which provides a better approach to learning

My youngest daughter is in a school that requires uniforms. Not too formal, just black, dk blue or khaki bottoms with white, light blue or red collared shirts. I like it, except it is sometimes hard to find girls collared shirts. The uniform concept as they have it at her school still allows variety, but it reduces peer pressure to dress in the newest fashions and compete against your fellow students. Also, since all students wear essentially the same things, there is less notice of who is rich and who isn't. You can buy this type of uniform product at WalMart or the Mall.

I think that schools should wear uniforms because kids will not be likely to tease other kids about how they dress. Also, it can make unity, which is very important.
In a way, it is even. If schools didn't have uniforms, kids could express themselves in different ways, such as how they dress.
So, it depends.

We went to school uniforms in my school district 2 years ago. It's been great... especially in age group I teach (9th grade)... it levels the playing field because students aren't constantly comparing their "fashion labels" to others... everyone is the same... it has cut down on a lot of the issues we were having on our campus

no uniforms are bull. it doesn't stop you from being teased because everybody can still pick out whos weird, poor, a loser, fat, skinny etc. and it doesn't keep you from wearing indecent clothes because alot of girls pull their skirts up to make them REALLY short to make up for not getting to wear what they want. basically the only things uniforms do is make everyone look similar and make deans waste time w/ kidswho are out of uniform

I say no. Honestly the pros are exagerated. It wont change cliques or violence. If people arent picking on clothes, sadly they will find somthing else. As for school spirit; I wouldnt say clothing increases it. I guess one pro is the cost for parents. But ya, i still say that theres no point
