It depends on what games you want to play. I recommend a Dell, aside from the catastrophic explosions of their batteries and AC adapters, they cleared up and I have a Dell Inspiron 640m that I leave on all day without a problem. This one's insufficient, even for Halo 1. I say maybe a Dell Inspiron 6400 or an XPS. If you decide to get one of these, get a dual core processor and at least 2GB of RAM. It doesn't matter what size of hard drive, just as long as you have enough space for what you plan to do. If you want to have a big music library (I'm talking 5000- 10000 songs) then a 150GB and up would be good. If you just plan to play games, then I say you can get an 80GB, the smallest one there, I think. Maybe they have a 60GB, but 80GB would be good as well.

If you plan on buying a laptop, you want everything to be as state of the art as possible. Games keep getting more intense, but other than memory and hard drive, laptops are rarely upgradeable. You want at least an 80gb HD, 1gb ram and a very good graphics accelerator. HP makes some nice laptops in this class with ATI graphics. Check the specs on the newest games you plan to play and make sure whatever laptop you buy far exceeds it.

Its different for every game, the requirements are always posted somewhere on the box though.
It'd say though, for most new games you need at LEAST a 512mb graphics card, 1gig of ram and 2.0ghz processor.

you do not easily want an Alienware. merely look on the computer specs and if it includes the two of those (Nvidia GeForce GT540M) or (Radeon HD 6630M), you're sturdy to pass. in certainty, the better the variety, the greater effective the cardboard is and greater eyecandy you may enable on your video games with out sacrificing fluidity. look at HP, Lenovo, Dell or the different manufacturers. you're absolute to discover one.

I play games on my laptop. it's a pIII w/40gig hd 1g processor. I like playing the sims 2 and it worked fine for a while. So make sure you have something similar to mine or better and you want to make sure that it has a good video card especially for gaming.
