Heaps! Sex is the best one. As when you organsm it realses the same chemical hormone as that which is realeased to start labour.
Also there are pressure points in your ancles that are supposed to work: Acupressure-There are two that can be stimulated until it causes contractions. They are:

In the webbing of your thumb and pointer finger. Press around that spot hard! If it hurts it's the right place. Keep pressing until you get a contraction. Stop!! When the contraction is done begin again.

The other place is on the inside of your ankle. Find your inside ankle bone. Go up your leg four finger spaces. Push very hard. This should hurt. If it does, it's the right place. Do the same as the directions above.

Be careful when doing the acupressure points. When a contraction starts, stop pushing the point! Or else you will have a double contraction!

The best ways to induce labor at home, naturally, are as follows...Please note that these are all tested, tried and true, not myths, and are frequently recommended by midwives, who try to avoid chemical induction at all costs....

Sex, while not the best way, is definately a fun one if you can manage it, or even feel like it at 40+ weeks. Orgasm does cause slight uterine contractions and can insite the beginning of labor, also, semen contains a chemical known to slightly soften the cervix, but only in miniscule, negligable amounts.

Walking can help speed labor, made it easier, and possible help it to begin.

However, the best method for inducing labor is nipple stimulation. The stimulation of both nipples, by hand, pump, or orally, for 1 hour, 3 times a day (that's a total of 3 hours per day), has proven to induce labor faster than any other method. However, it is important to be CAREFUL! This method is so effective at inducing labor, it can often result in labor that progresses VERY quickly. Once contractions begin, STOP stimulating the nipples!! Nipple stimulation causes a release of oxytocin, the natural chemical that causes uterine contractions.

If all else fails, your doctor can begin by rupturing your membranes, the act of stripping the "plug" that is inside your cervix away. This may start labor.

Secondly, they can attempt breaking your water. Please note, however, before you agree to this, that if contractions do not begin on their own after the amniotic sack has been ruptured, Most doctors will want to proceed with Petocin or a Cesarean within 24-36 hours to prevent infection of yourself and your unborn child.

Good Luck!

Well my mother has been delivering babies for years now and so I happen to know quite a bit about this. Many of these may seem odd but they do work. Sex is one way to kick start labor... but I know that you are nine months pregnant so this may not be the best of time for this. Another thing is nipple stimulation. Seems wierd but it works. This tricks the body into thinking that you are ready to be breastfeeding... which in turn means time for baby. Also don't be stationary... you need to move around. If all else completely fails you can turn to an induction but remember that this is not a very pleasant experience for many women. It includes longer and more painful labors and also it doesn't always work which can be discouraging.

Anyway! Congrats and I hope you have an easy labor and a beautiful baby!

They say that light exercise, like taking a walk, can induce labor. So can spicy food, and sex. But you should really ask your doctor before doing anything. You dont want to do something that someone says on here, and come to find out it hurts your baby, or you.

I have actually heard that having sex will speed up the process if the baby was supposed to be due today!

I had an OB doctor strip my membranes with my 3rd child when he was due. This definitely speeded up delivery because he was born that night.

Two of my friends did castor oil, one it worked for and one it didn't. You must be already starting to dilate for it too work and it gives you diarriah. The best is sex, walking, nipple stimulation (If you have a breast pump try using it for a bit). GOOD LUCK!!

Take a long walk and try castor oil I used it on my second child and it worked or try having sex but make sure your husband (excuse the wording) cums in you cause it is something in the sperm that helps with the dialation process. good luck

Sex is the best way however just because it;s your due date today doesnt really mean you HAVE to have your baby. Just give it a few days.... when your baby is ready , they will come.... good luck.... i know i cant wait for my baby..... BUT just be patient....
