I am going to sign up to take the class but my friend told me that if I have never ridden one before I take the ridden test then it will be extremely hard. Whats the best way to learn?

while ur waitin for a slot to open up in the msf course, i highly recommend getting 1 or 2 of these video's: http://www.ridelikeapro.com
i have 1 of these and i guarentee u that u will see that ridin a bike is easy money....and will stay that way as long as u keep ur head on a swivel. as long as u respect the bike, and the fact that ur invisible to cagers, freedom is only 2 wheels away.

Don't listen to your friend about the class. If it's an MSF Beginner course (or very similar) then you'll have a lot of fun and get a lot out of it.

When I took mine, I ended up missing one question on the written final and got a perfect score on the practical (riding) test. The person that came in just behind me was a housewife in her 30's that had NEVER ridden a motorcycle before and was terrified. She learned a lot and had a HUGE grin on her face by the end!

Just pay attention, do your best, and don't be afraid to lean the bike; that's the only way motorcycles can turn.

Please take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course.

*I took it, because I had never ridden before, too. It has since saved my life at least seven times.

*The other students in the class had all ridden motorcycles before. Even though it was a beginner's course, some of the ten/twenty year vets said that they learned something.

*Always wear a helmet. You can't really put it on when an accident is happening, and your skull just isn't good enough to hold in your brains when you smack the pavement.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

The Absolute best way to learn how to ride or to improve your skills is by enrolling in a MSF Ridercourse. The MSF has programs designed for the beginning rider and the experienced rider. Since the late seventies millions have sucessfully completed MSF training courses. Most state training programs are based on the MSF curriculum. For more information do a Yahoo search and find the MSF WEBSITE. There you will find sample learning videos, sample course questions and other information to help you make an informed decision.

Take the "Rider's Edge" Safety Course offered at most Harley Davidson dealerships. The cost is under 300$ and they supply you with all the gear you need AND the motorcycle.

Completion of the Rider's Edge safety course EXEMPTS you from having to take the Riding Portion of the test at the DMV.

All you have to do is get your certificate proving that you passed Rider's Edge and then you go down to the DMV and take a short written test, and within 15 minutes you've got your license.

The Rider's Edge Safety course has been compared to being the equivalent of 2 years riding experience.

MSF courses are great too.

I would have to agree with the wise souls who advocated education. My Grandfather RIP always told me as a wee boy if you want to be a good rider you must fill your mouth full of marbles. When you have an accident/near miss or learning experience spit one marble out. When you have lost all your marbles you are a good Rider.God bless his soul.I want to die like my grandpa, in his sleep, not like his passenger....screaming!

On a smaller, preferably dirt bike. They are lighter and easier to handle until you become comfortable with riding
