I seriously don't understand how people get these viruses...

Some real basic precautions is all it takes. Don't download fishy email attachments and up the internet security settings when browsing shady websites. If you're gonna download pirated software, stay off the torrents and do it someplace safe. That's all it takes. In any case, a little system maintenance every now an then will go a long way as well.

Keep windows updated by turning on automatic updates or by going to windows update, and install a virus scanner. And above all, don't run any programs that you download without being absolutely sure of what they are and if they are safe.
Before you throw out your new computer, reinstall windows, then immediately go to windowsupdate.com and install all the critical patches. You will have to do it and reboot multiple times- some patches only show up after you have installed all the previous patches. Then install an antivirus program.

I would re-format it (re-install windows) and get some really good anti virus and anti spiware protection, vet is good http://home2.ca.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayHomePage&SiteID=capac&Locale=en_AU&Env=BASE

If this does not work you could get a mac but remember that you would have to get all new software for it and re-learn how to use it because they use a different system.

I know that you can put windows on a mac but if you do you open it up to get viruses so I wouldn't recommend it. If you have plenary of money you could always just get the mac for an internet computer and office\word processor and use the windows one for everything else because if you are into games windows is still better. Mac is only better for digital imageing and video and movie productions

Indeed - Mac OS X is virus free. You will always get malware problems with Microsoft Windows. You can also use Linux, which is free. Try Kubuntu:

Depending on what Anti-virus protector you use will depend if you get viruses or not.
If you recently got a new PC, then I don't think your parents would be happy for you asking for another one 5 monthes later.

I suggest you get your PC Formatted (Wipe everything off, put what you want such as Family photos and school work, no music and photos that you can get again, and put them onto a CD).

Ask your parents first!!
If they agree put the stuff you want onto the CD then:
Put your Windows XP CD into the CD drive, turn off the pc, turn it back on, and follow the instructions! ;)

Also keep up-to-date!

Also get a good virus protector!
AVG / Norton Anti-virus / Blueyonder PC Guard / McAfee
