There are also these movies called "the eye of the storm" People are racist, sexist and other "ists" because:
1) They are taught this at home, school and in their religion ( some/ especially Catholic ( sorry but true))
2) people are afraid of what they don't understand
3) People hold stereotypes of sub groups so things always get worse in sted of better
it sucks but there it is.
Now if you are trying to "enlighten us" Because you read something that changed YOUR point of view than you should have written your question better. Good reading!

Sweetie, We all wonder how the world can be such a cruel place towards someone's skin color, or the way look. I agree we all are the same. I myself is half puerto rican, black, german, irish. So believe me in my short period of life, I have heard all the names you possibly can be called. It doesn't bother me. I still walk tall and whole my head high. I love who I am. I don't judge people and it probably the way I was raise. That's what it comes down to mostly the environment you lived when you were growing up. The world will always be racist majority anyway. Just be unique don't be like them, give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

I believe people are insecure within themselves and threaten by others, so they have to build barriers to “protect” themselves, those barriers can come in many forms to separate and degrade the next individual and those people feel a since of relief that is short lived until the next challenge presents itself, until they can resolve their own issues as well as self hatred, they will continue to turn a blind eye and hate the next person.

I've never read the book, but it sounds more like "Gang Relations",instead of "Race Relations". Gangs have always used "Colors,Hands Signs, and Symbols" to represent who they were, and where they come from. ( I think I'm going to check the book out. Just might be some interesting reading).

I don't think we are all the same, but at the same time I'm not racist. People who are racist are ignorant and don't like change. I don't agree with how some people get special treatment when they are minority, but it's not like I am going to go all psycho and do something rash because of it.

There is no rational reason to be rasist. some people dont even realise their rasist, something my grandmother said "im not rasist, they cant help it if their black" People are usualy set in their ways about issues like this, nobody is born racist the environment you grow up in influences you attitude towards such issues..

Nobody is born racist and I truly believe children are the products of their parents and peers so I guess when we stop teaching our children to be racist we will all be the same.

People are racist because people are ignorant.

That's the simplest way to put it. And people do games like that because it makes other people feel horrible and makes them feel better about themselves. Sounds like an interesting book...

Some take racism too far by using anything to make it "racist".
Just ignore extreme racists and get on with your own life. :)
