Amp Heads are the amp themselves. You can get a speaker cabinet, a amplifier or a combo. If you get a cabinet, you will need some sort of amplifier to translate the sound from the guitar pickups to the speaker cabinet. If you get a combo, that contains both a speaker and an amplifier. So, no, you can't get an amp without an amp head.

There are two parts to a stack amp. The head, which is the amplifier, and the Cab, which is the cabinet that has the speakers. The head powers the cab. So the amp powers the speakers. You can get amps that are called combo amps they have both parts in one and are generally smaller and do not sound as full.

I play guitar, yet do no longer very own an amp head or cupboard, yet i'm particularly particular the amp head connects to the cupboard and you gets the two the 600 & 200 watts of ability on an identical time...ask the salesperson once you purchase them.
