Black moors shouldn't change color but most pet stores get the culls of the litter which means they aren't the best quality and because of that the black may not be as stable as it should be. Food and lighting can also effect the color.

We are all assuming that these are goldfish you are talking about. First off, black moors will NEVER change color. Never. That's why they are called black moors. There is a style of eyes that is called "telescope" eyes, and can be bred into many kind of goldfish. Any of the other styles of fancy goldfish can be a myriad of colors from white, yellow, gold, orange, red, chocolate and black and as they are constantly being genetically altered to create more beautiful species, their genes have not yet stabilized enough to hold their true colors. Black moors have stabilized because no one has tried to "improve" on their look. Their look has been accepted as is. Anyway, bottom line is, it's perfectly normal.

Yeah it is common for the fish to change. Most of them do. Yet I had to Black Moors and they never changed color. They stayed a charcoal black and they are 5yrs old. So I think it just depends prob on their genetic makeup. So nothing serious to worry about. Goodluck with your fish!

The type of fish you have is called a black moore. This species always change colour, for reasons like the seasonal and temperature change, to the change of foods you feed your fish. Most fish change and inhance their colour when they have just eaten a great meal. so don't worry.
