okay, so someone just said if im too athletic or too skinny, it can affect when i get it? so, im really skinny. im 4'10 and weigh 75 lbs. does being really skinny really affect it?

and another person said "hair growing under your arms and around your nipples and vulva.Sweating under your arms." and "Thick and whitish or slippery and clear vaginal discharge."

this is all true! but aren't those supposed to happen when you have already gotten your period? or are they signs im about to get it?

and thank you all for trying to help me!

There is nothing wrong with you. Don't worry, your period will come soon. The latest age to have your period is 16-18 yrs. But if you feel your not having you period then go to a doctor and find out why?.If you have/feel cramps on your back or pain in you breast. You might feel a wet spot, red spot on you underwear, feel tired, and having pimples on you forehead.tummy pains that you normally don't get.your hips getting wider.hair growing under your arms and around your nipples and vulva.Sweating under your arms.Developing acne.Thick and whitish or slippery and clear vaginal discharge.Girls get their first period about two years after their breasts start to grow. Also, many girls start having periods around the same age that their moms did, so you might want to ask your mom how old she was when she started.

Hope this helps.

I started mine a few months before I was 16. I too am a small person. I was probably only 90 lbs & 5'0 tall. Not sure about the signs of it starting, as I am now 37 yrs old. However I do remember that I had horrible craps & bled alot for the first yr or so. My 1st period I had no cramps tho. Good luck, don't rush it tho. It will happen in due time. Try to relax, it doesn't make you any less of a woman to have not started by now.

No, not abnormal at all! The average age (from what I remember) was 12-13...and I've heard some girls as young as 9, others could be 17!

One thing that affects it is how athletic you are. If you are extremely athletic, some don't get them at all.

I just found this quote from the source below" After one to two years after a girl's breasts start to develop they will experience their first menstrual period." That might give one clue to when it will start.

There's nothing wrong with you. Usually if you haven't had your period by now it is because your body is in really good shape or you are too thin. There is no set time on when you have your period because each of our bodies are very different. Some have their period around 12 and some girls have them later. If you don't have your period by the time you are 15 then go see your mother's doctor and get checked out.

While the average age of the start of menstruation is 12, it is common for you not to have one at 14. It is not considered worrisome until the age of 16 (for the statistical folks, that is 2 standard deviations above the mean age of onset - which means 2.5% of girls will still not have their period at age 16). Until you reach that point, just relax and wait.

There are actually several stages to puberty. That includes growth of pubic hair (during adrenarche) and development of breasts(thenarche). The last stage is actually start of menstruation (menarche). So these other signs will come before you get your period.

and another person said "hair growing under your arms and around your nipples and vulva.Sweating under your arms." and "Thick and whitish or slippery and clear vaginal discharge."...That neccesarily does not happen after your period, It is normal until age 18, if you are 17 , 18, and no period yet..go see a gynocologist

Your age isn't that unusual. There are girls who don't get their periods until they're 16 or even older! Ask your mom, if you haven't already, when she started and that's a good indication of when you'll start. But hair growing in your pubic area and under your arms is a good indication that it's coming. Pains on either side of hips can be a sign that you're ovulating. Another really good one is if your family and friends notice you suddenly get extra cranky...pre-PMS! But you're perfectly normal. Periods, in my opinion, suck so enjoy your time without one!!!!

I didn't have my period until I was 14, and I am 40 year of age and perfectly normal. My periods have also been regular, and I also have one child. As for signs of starting your first period, there really wasn't any particular signs that I can remember.

Alot of people start between 14 - 16. I was somewhere a few months into being 14. Consider this a blessing. Once your realize how gross this monthly curse is - you'll be happy it waited to arrive!
