Their spouses work as registered lobbyists - how can they not be influenced by someone they spend years with.?
Is it a total non-issue? Some lobbying accomplishes things like better health care for the elderly but doesn't it give people like drug companies an unfair playing advantage?

I don't beleive It is not just a Democratic or Republican issue but I welcome opinions -

When speaking of influences in life it has been said that politics and marriage can make strange bedfellows...
Influences on any one person or persons would depend on the dynamic of the relation ship of the two people involved I do agree with you about the affect on the spouse "i don't think it could be helped" and yes some good things can come out of it...

Very interesting- thank you for sharing this information. It should be against the law for this to occur. This is a corruption issue, and corruption is not particular to one party or the other. Of course they are not considering the American public's best interests. I just like to think they inadvertently do some good, though their motives are way less than noble. What would it take to change these blatantly unfair practices in our government? Remember the Beatles' song, 'Revolution'? It always comes down to that thought- but picture it. Not a pretty sight.

Sure you can, AND you can have a very lively and intellectually smart relationship, as well as being able to see "both-sides-of-the-coin" on the issues that your spouse is involved with. I sometimes wonder about all the interpersonal / psychological intricacies their relationships have had to develop in order to stay alive, but I can clearly see the possibilities and I applaud those individuals / couples who take it on. They are truly intelligent and strong minded, and immensely respectable. God Bless you.

Good work.
What people don't realize that each one of us has between 10 & 30 different lobby organizations working just for us.
Check it out.
It's not the lobbyists, it's the politicians that hire their own family members to work for them, and pay them high salaries with our tax money.
Obama voted against stopping this pratice.
Some Republicans do it.
BUT many many Democrats do it.
We are going to see the REAL CULTURE OF CORRUPTION.
And the sad thing is: DEMOCRATS ARE ABOVE THE LAW.
(Ask Hillary.)

They aren't permitted, by Congressional Rules of Ethics, from voting on any issue where a family member acts as a lobbyist or, for that matter, where they have any conflict or appearance of a conflict.

It's a non-issue.

NO, I could not.

WHY?

I'm afraid that the greed would override my desire to do any good for the American people!

I would say to the American people "let them eat cake"!

I'm being honest and anyone who says they would do otherwise is lying and the truth is far from them!
