This is teh FRIENDS board, so pretend you are friends, not parents. No, OH, YOU SHOULD NOT DO THAT!!! TSK TSK!!!

Ok, so one of my friends really wants me to go drink with her. SHe is a heavy drinker, but I don't want to. I want to wait till I'm at least 16, which is only 2 more years. I mean, I guess I do, but it is sort of like losing your alcohol virginity. I want to save it for as long as possible. Keep my innocence. I'm not religious or anythig nlike that, but I don't want to grow up to fast. So I sorta said I'd drink with her. Oops. What ages were you guys when you started drinking? (honesty counts)
I'm gonna tell her I changed my mind, but can anyoen tell me their own experiences so I can figure out what to do?

We were sitting in class one day talking about it and she kept saying stuff like, oh, when you come over, we can get drunk! You know, if you want to. I'm not PRESSURING you or anything. But it will be fun. U know you wanna!

And like, we did a survey in that clss, it was a honors biology class, and only 4 other kids hadn't gotten completely drunk before. (It was a private survey, the teacher didn't know)

First, my parents drink and use to give me alcohol when I was younger (like 5 younger). Since then, I drunk a couple of times at the age 17 and 18. But here is my commentary: What'd you do when you are too drunk to tell some random guy no to sex? This guy could or could not have AIDS? Or when you are too drunk and can't control your own actions? The worst part is not being able to remember those actions whatsoever. I'm not a parent; I'm 19. I go to a school that drinks like it is a religion and can get alcohol anyday of the week, anytime of the day. I am not saying drink occasionally is wrong but what is your reason for drinking? Think about that. I've watched too much happen with alcohol over the past couple of year. Deaths, suspensions, terminations... Don't let your friends make your decisions. And by any means, don't let me make this decision for you. Just be honest with your friend... if you're not ready, you're not ready.

My first sip of alcohol came at age 17. My advice to you is to keep your "alcohol virginity" for as long as possible because if you start drinking (especially with people who are heavy drinkers) it will be very easy for you to get sucked into their bad habits and way of life. I'm not lecturing you but when I was 17 I dated a 24 year old alcoholic, he never pressured me to drink but I felt the peer pressure to do so and to this day I regret it. Also, you're a bit young. What if your parents find out you're drinking, better yet, what if police do? Just be careful and know that any decisions you make today will affect you tomorrow and those affects may not be the kind of positive reinforcement you need at this stage in your life.

Don't do it. 1.) Your not old enough, and even if you were 16 you still wouldn't be old enough. 2.) If you get caught, you will hardly see the light of day,and you will probably get grounded,so it isn't worth it. By the way...not everyone will treat you like they are your parents...pointing it out makes you seem immature...so if you don't want people acting like parents, then make sure you check your spelling, and give your question in a mature way. (just advice for you,not parenting.) Good Luck-

oooooh no. don't do that. tsk tsk. :]
tell her the truth.
that you're waiting till you're 16, but once that day comes, you'll call her up.
yes. i know. mom advice. "don't give in to peer pressure. just be yourself". but hey. people will respect you. they'll think "wow. she has some standards..and isn't a pushover like i thought she was". believe me. whatever goes through your head...like "o brother. i'll just do it to get it over with, and then it'll be over". no. she'll ask you to do it again and again, because you agreed the first time. and once you do that one drink, you'll be like "one more. just one more". and look what'll happen? you'll end up living in a box :] anyway...to make a long answer a few sentences shorter, just say no. you'll get respect. ok? good luck.

Ok last year for me, I was a freshman cheerleader and the juniors who were cheerleaders asked all the freshmen to come to a party with them and drink and being only 14, we all knew it was wrong to drink and didn't wanna get drunk cuz u get REALLY sick and i dont wanna give you the wrong idea or anything but i feel like if you wanna go to a party where theyre drinking, go ahead! I mean you seem smart so I dont think youd get overly drunk. But if you cant controll yourself dont go. If your friend wants you to drink so much, to get her off your back have ONE shot or ONE beer or something REALLY small. Dont overdo it, you're only 14
