An ear cannot be broken as a general rule as it is cartilage as opposed to bone. However, just like the cartilage in your knee it can be torn away from the bone it is connected to. Great force is required to accomplish this and it would be very painful. As a side note...cauliflower ear can be caused by repeated blows (boxers suffer from this) the ear can swell and resemble cauliflower because it doesn't have the same amount of circulation as other parts of your body. Ear or ear drum?

Sudden pressure differentials from sound or atmospheric pressure can break an ear drum. An inner ear infection can cause it to burst.

an ear cannot b broken because there is no bone in your ear. Your ear is all cartalige (sp?). you can like cut it or something but it cannot b broken.
