I was told to check my firewall ports to make sure the port was open for MSN messenger. how do I do that. I am running XP

It depends on yr firewall. Normally when MSN messenger requests to send or receive data through yr software firewall it will communicate through a port to the internet. Yr firewall will ask you if you want to allow the data traffic you have initiated and also if you want the program to accept data without you initiating this. if you have norton firewall
bring up the firewall and you will be able to see what ports
