I cannot move because the class is so small. She crosses her legs and wags the one in the air back and forth and back and forth for an hour four days a week right next to me. It is driving me crazy. Would it be rude for me to ask her to stop?

Actually, I AM trying to pay attention to the class, that's why it is so distracting to have someone shaking next to me when I can't get away from it. I am hardly immature.

Yea, I had a girl in my class who did that. It is actaully a psychological disorder, so its not her fault.

I actually do that sometimes in class to help myself stay awake. I wake up at 6:15 am to go to work and by time my biology class is coming to an end around 6:45 pm, I've been going for over12 hours straight with only an hour break which I used to get from work to school and grab a quick bite to eat. So give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she's has extenuating circumstances and that's helping keep her awake or soothe her nerves. If you stop looking at it as something that annoys you (or is being done to annoy you), it won't annoy you.

It is not rude to ask. I my self do that a lot of times. I am just nervous all the time, sometimes the person never realizes. st ask in the nicest of the ways, and you will see how she will stop, because the girl doesn't want to have problems of course. If she keeps on doing it your best bet is to move away from the chick. Just go early to class, and sit somewhere else so that no one complains. Just say you were there first. If that doesn't work just talk to your professor, I am sure he/she will help you out. =)

She may not even be aware that she is doing it. Such actions are often almost totally unconscious. Maybe the best way to approach it is to ask her about it from the perspective of being curious about it, does she know she is doing it, why she does it, does it help her focus or relax for the class, etc. Most of us have things we do when we are in situations that make us a little anxious, and this may be what she is doing. Sometimes just bringing attention to it may reduce it.

No, but she would probably think you are crazy. Make sure you ask her nicely or she might start doing it on purpose just for you.
