I have tried cleaning the inside using vinegar (which worked great) but how do i get the stuck-on starch and material off of the face? i'm willing to try almost anything b4 i buy another one. i am trying to convince my husband that i can fix it instead of buying a new one.

With iron plugged in and hot, press is over the shiny side of waxed paper. This usually takes the gunk off and will leave the surface smooth.

Try ironing salt. Put some salt on the end of your ironing board and move the iron back and forth on it.

Hope it works

I USE A S.O.S PAD OR A STAINLESS STEAL SCOURING ONE FOR THE POTS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY WITH A WET CLOTH. I FIND IT CLEANS EASIER IF THE IRON IS LUKE WARM.
