Doesn't 'sick' basically have a negative connotation? When I think of the word 'sick' I think of someone getting a cold or doing something gross, like sneezing and wiping it on their clothes. However, the recent youth slang has altered the meaning. For example, one kid might say to another kid "check out my new electric guitar, isn't it sick?"

I have recently come across this word sick to mean something attractive. Perhaps it is a slang derived from the word sleek or slick.

How does any word come into use? I mean do you remember a couple years ago when everything was the "bomb".... that makes just as much sense but people still use it.

I've never heard it used like that. Most of my friends just use it to describe something as 'gross'. However, it could be because they just want to be different.
