the global economy? Please mention development time, negotiation time, etc...

I'm guessing 3 years because it would be so useful.

Would it stop a recession if we were about to go into one?

With a working prototype proving the concept, with the backing of credentialled scientists and engineers vouching for its authenticity, and with the right connections through "industry lobbyists", you can get major corporations to fastrack both negotiation and development phases and get it on the market within 3 years, provided there aren't any environmental issues involved. Market penetration will follow standard exponential growth, the actual rate depending on cost per unit for given power generation. It's rare for any significant technological advance in products to achieve market saturation in less than 10 years, but nonetheless will have significant impact on the global economy long before then. Will it stop a recession? No. You can develop a cure for cancer, put a personal jet car in every garage, provide free water for everyone, and make everybody a movie or music star, and still we'll have recessions and economic blahs. We're only human.

It would never happen.
You'd die in a fatal "car accident" approximately 3 hours from the time you announce your discovery, the technology would be archived and secretly implemented on a small scale into existing energy providers' platforms, while they continue to charge customers the same rate.

I have a tiny place here. I dont pay for heat or hot water and I pay almost $200 a month for electricity.
You announce a free source of energy you will turn up missing never to be seen again.
They wont tolerate that
