I am sort of new to playing, and I saw a 12 string today for the first time. When you play it, do hold both the strings down, or just one at a time? Thanks =)

Yes you play a 12 string just like a 6 string, especially harmony or rhythm guitar. I love my 12 string guitar :)

there are 6 sets of two strings and you hold the whole set down. i believe 12 is usually more for rhythm or just plain chords

i think of a 12 string is extra durable.. two times as lots resistance on the strings and the strings are closer mutually on the fretboard. further.. tuning is a sturdy bit extra tricky..

Exact same as a six string, but better used for playing chording songs, or slow songs.
