The Exclusionary Rule is the rule that prevents the Government (through the police and prosecutors) from using evidence that was obtained illegally against a suspect in a criminal prosecution.

The exculsionary rule goes like the officer said. It is important because it tries to ensure that defendants are given a fair trial.
