On CSI, they said it is not until age 3? Is that true? And if so, why do a lot of people say they have memories of infancy and early childhood? Liars?

The ability to recall memories is based on whether our mind is organized...which requires acquiring language, the ability to name things and speak. When we name things, we categorize things. This is key to recall. Since children become adept at language at about the age of 3, this is when they usually acquire the ability to recall their experiences.

They might think that and it could be something else or stretching out the truth. CSI is about right. About age 3 or 4. I started remembering bits and pieces about my life starting with age 4. And, I think I am remembering one incident that happened when I was 3. Nothing bad, just a feel in a piece of the puzzle.

Memory begins as soon as you have experiences. But memory can fool you. It's definitely a complex subject. Dr. Loftus has done a great deal of research on memory:

CSI is fun to watch, but it is just a TV show. ;-)
