If you don't have any Midol or Aleve in the house, try this: take one ibuprofen, one acetaminophen, and drink a glass of pop or something else caffeinated. After you've done that, try using a heating pad or one of those heat releasing pain patches on your abdomen to make the muscles let go. Your mom is right about trying to be active through it; this does help a lot of people, but make sure you stretch well first. Also, have a little dark chocolate (yes, it actually does help!) and stay away from greasy fried foods because they can make you feel sicker (or at least they do me).

Actually taking "Motrin" 1 to 2 days BEFORE your period is a good start! Your uterus is actually a "muscle" and "Motrin" is an excellent muscle relaxer. I don't care for Midol or Pamprin much because sometimes those "feminine cramp relief" meds contain caffeine, and I personally don't need any more of that in my diet! I am the "Starbucks Queen!!" Try the Motrin and a hot bath honey...=)

Try Midol or the like. Even Tylenol or Motrin will help. Also try not wear tampons during your first day or so as this will help decrease the cramping. Heating pads over your abdomen will provide some comfort and try to take it easy while you are experiencing the pain.

try eating a banana. Also, exercise, drink some hot tea, take a bath, relax and read a good book or watch a movie. Those are just some tips that should help make you feel a little better, but nothing is 100% good luck and feel better!

Warm bath or hot water bottle if you don't have money for over the counter prescriptions (Midol)
