I believe in it.

You know if you want an unbiased poll you should not post you opinion either way.

For me, this is a very troubling issue.

Based on beliefs, I am against it. I see it somehow as a way of "playing God" in a sense.

But then, I have my younger sister. She was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 1. She is now 16, and is on the list for a lung transplant. Sometimes I wonder if stem cell research could help find a cure for CF. But, would this be making me selfish? That just because I have someone close to me who could benefit from it?

But then, I see it as, well God made us a certain way for reason...but then I realize that I am contradicting myself because things that may have been considered controversial back in the day for the same reason could be things that are keeping my little sister alive.

So, who knows. I am for and against it. =P

Not meaning to start something but for your poll to yield a true result you would have to be neutral, stating "I am taking a poll regarding stem cell research. Ar you for against it?" Otherwise this is just an exercise in you stating your opinion, which you could have done without taking a poll.

Personally I am for it if it saves lives.

Im still at a toss up because the initial intentions are good (helping those who need it). However, it will most likely be turned into a product that will be used on mass scales for minor illnesses which is not only wrong morally but could cause serious social and biological issues in the future. If the governments could keep extremely tight regulations on its use for certain cases I think it's an opportunity for civilization to grow upon the medical advancements and to help those who otherwise wouldn't be able to receive help.

FOR!!! There are embryos being disposed of on a daily basis. The smart way to go about it would have state run clinics where abortions could be pro-formed safely and the stem cells would come from a place where they could be used. Not tossed into the trash. There are ways to do it where both parties are satisfied.

Personally, I'm for it. 100%. I have nothing against taking the stem cells from embryos.
Are you against the whole idea of playing God, the research involving aborted fetuses, or all of stem cell research? There are other methods of harvesting stem cells. Recently, scientists discovered they could harvest stem cells from the umbilical chord.

I am against harvesting viable embryos for embryonic stem cell research. From what I have read there can be just as many medical advances with adult stem cells which would be voluntarily donated.

in my personal opinion, i am all for stem cell research and I'll tell you why.

i have type one diabetes and using stem cells they can produce a new pancreas for me (actual everyone!!). They could also "produce" things like new organs for children and adults with failing ones

how could you be against something with so many medical possibilities?

Against.

should not let us know your opinion first. even your title is misleading: how can a poll be "against" something? a poll is ABOUT something. you or your school must be very oriented. if you want to be honest with yourself and the audience, i suggest you to repeat the poll in a few days, maybe in a different section.

favourable, anyway. and i am pleased you posted this question

For it absolutely, it will pave the way to solve a humongous amount of problems in this world of health, will bring the cost of health insurance down to affordable to everyone and should be left alone to advance as fast a possible....ask anyone who is bed ridden or in a wheel chair...and it can't happen fast enough..
