This past weekend, there was an incident at my community livestock feed distribution where there were people cutting in line and hoarding feed when there was a limit.

This makes me angry because these people know full and well that there is a limit for each person and that when they take more for themselves, there is less for others who might need it more.

And while they are overgrazing the land, glaciers are melting. I am Native American and people assume that we all have great respect for the Earth, but tell that to all the lazy and greedy people on my Reservation.

Materialism can be good or bad, depending on how it may, or may not, influence your life. If material possessions get in your way of living a healthy, happy life, then I think it's bad. I also think materialism is bad when you use material things to replace human aspects of your life. Instead of havig good frieds, you may have an expensive car, or a mannsion, or some flawless entertrainment system to furl your needs.

But looking at it the other way can be completely different: you may have a nice car, mansion, and entertainment system just for your own amusement or entertainment. You may have these thing simply because you like them; they could mean next to nothing to you.

Some people were even just brought up to believe that material possessions are the only worthwhile possessions to have, and so it may not be their fault to have such strog feeligs of material gluttony.

It all really comes down to the person and how they use their possessions.

materialism is for people who don't believe enough in themselves to stand out by their own merits
