My doctor told me it can be hereditary. I asked him because I was wondering if it was how the cord was cut. My first daughter in an innie and my second an outie. Our new son is an innie. I am an outie.

My son had one but it went away before he was a year old. The doctor said that those usually go away by the time they are 2 years old and if they don't then they can do surgery to correct it.

in basic terms provide it time to fall off on that is own. i imagine with DS#2, it took almost 3 weeks for the cord to finally fall off thoroughly. also, make confident as you clean it to get down interior the bellybutton between the cord and the wall of the button. it truly is in all probability the position the stink is coming from.

I had one as a baby and one of my kids had one too. We both have cute, normal belly buttons now. Don't worry about it. It'll go away on its own. I know it looks weird when they cry and the thing pokes out so far, but it really does go away.

NO. It just happens. It is more common in boys then it is in girls. Two of my three boys had them. My husband did not have one. No one in my family had one.
