Alright.. So I started hanging out with this girl thats a straight A student and mostly AP classes, is one of the best atheletes in her school, and is just a rad person overall... Now I can tell that she likes me but I found something out that scares me... See I like her alot but she told me that 2 months ago she attempted suicide by ODing on sleeping medicine... She says that nothing is wrong except that her brain just gets her really depressed and is on medication and goes to a psychiatrist...I like this girl alot but I think if I get too close to her it might be asking to get hurt... She is not a wierd goth or anything, she seems like a perfectly normal happy funny person... What do I do?

Definitely continue to be her friend, and try to help and support her. However, I'd try and hold off getting involved romantically. She seems to be going through a lot, and needs to deal with that before she adds more complications to her life. And God forbid if anything went wrong and you guys broke up, if she hasn't dealt with her problems, she may do something extreme, and you don't want that hanging over you. Play it safe for now, and be a true friend, because that's what she needs now. Good luck!

Some people have mental disorders that are cyclic. My ex-husband did, and when I met him he was one of the funniest and kindest guys you'd ever want to meet (he was in an "Up" cycle). He told me of his prior suicide attempts, but I assured myself that they were in the past. However, when he got 'brain depressed', neither I nor anyone else could soothe him. He ended up wrecking his, mine and our kids lives. It has taken years to rebuild a decent life for ourselves, and I learned a valuable lesson: When someone tells you that they are sick in this way, run as fast as possible in the opposite direction. Let your GF get the help she needs, but do not stick around to see if she does so. You have to be your own #1 Priority.
Please, please !
