I have had this internet problem for a day...
ok this is my network layout.... I have a modem.. from that modem a eathernet wire(yellow) connects to a phone modem... the phone modem's lan line socket has a line connecting it to a wireless router, and the phone modem has the phone connected o it... and the computer is connected with the router..... for about a day the internet has been down.. we called our computer company and they sent a guy over.. we found out that if we connected our modem directly with the laptop the internet worked.. but when we connected the computer directly with the modem it didnt work.. so the problem must be in the phone modem, router, or desktop..
please help if possible.. thank you

Connect the router in the middle, not at the end.

Broadband modem - wireless router.
VOIP phone modem - wired port on the wireless router
Phone - VOIP phone modem
Computer - wireless router

The phone modem typically requires 90kb minimum but it should work connected behind the wireless router.

You need to break it down into logical pieces.

If the Internet works with the computer connected directly to the modem (assume this is through Ethernet), then add one piece to the puzzle and see if it breaks?

The first thing I'd look for is to see if you get an IP address assigned to the computer in question. To see your IP address, from the Windows XP command prompt type "ipconfig". If you get an actual address assigned (something like 192.168.1.2) then you have basic communication.

There are a zillion things it could be. Yahoo answers is a very poor communication tool to use to try and help you. Suggest you move your question over to a more interactive medium, like usenet or dell support forums or yahoo groups?

the problem is in the wireless router. I guarantee it. If it's a linksys, call linksys for troubleshooting, or if it's belkin, call belkin, etc.. This is way too complicated to be solved in a single answer.

Call the cable company to come over and set you up. They should do it for free.
