Absolutely

By drawing attention to minor conflicts that receive major press in developed nations media which the one World Superpower is currently engaging in, I believe the above answers are displaying an ignorance to history.

There are dozens of conflicts worldwide and very few of the combatants are citizens of democratic nations. There are no armed conflicts between 2 democratic nations at this point (unless you believe Israel vs. Palestine is a conflict between 2 democratic nations).

The level of conflicts worldwide has declined steadily over the past 1,000 years in concert with the increase in people's rights to participate in government and other rights we consider basic today.

The type of government does not determine whether a country is peaceful or not. There have been many examples of all types of governments being at war and at peace. There are many demacracies that are peaceful but that has more to do with the people in power and the relative strength of said country. On the flip side, Sweden is a peaceful nation of socialists while Cold War Russia was not so peaceful. The same can be said for every type of government.

Democracy, as far as I know, is from the consent of the governed but it doesn't always work that way, however, making people accountable for their government leaves the people with no one else to blame and thereby peaceful. As far as another country, hope we all don't agree to take you out, or the majority anyway.

No, becaus ethe idea of democracy is to have more people controlling, not just a king or dictator. Thus, it will caus echaos of the leaders, like today where matches like Democrats vs Republicans happen everyday throughout Wahington.

Although, i'd say goverments like parliment, would be better, but then there would have to be a leader, that would always be the controversy of impeachment.

Um....No. The United States is currently at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, is bombing Somalia and threatening war with Iran. Not exactly peaceful, wouldn't you agree?
