I think they should get rid of all reality shows,FULL STOP.
Nearly every program on t.v is a `supposedly`reality program, and it's unfair on us people who don't want to watch them.
T.V is bleeding boring at the best of times, and were charged a fortune for our licences.
All t.v bosses need a good swift kick up the backside, that's everyone from the BBC to Channel 5 and beyond.
Yes we do need some new input, but with everyone being so politically correct,we wouldn't get the sort of programs we crave.

These days we definitely need more comedy. Even good dramas are too much for me sometimes with the world as it is today.Reality shows are stupid and bring. The only passable ones are actually documentaries that have been rechristened "reality" as a marketing gimmick. Those are usually PBS and are quality programming. The rest of them are just awful. I can't watch them as they are so BORING!
I am all for a good lighthearted distraction! Unfortunately, reality shows are cheap to make, the junk food of programming. Hopefully someone will wise up and put something good on the air. The reason the few new shows do well is because they are about something. I miss content in my shows, and I resent that good shows get pushed off the air to be replaced by some lame reality drivel. They never give shows a chance to succeed. Seinfeld, Cheers...these were shows that did not do well at first, and look how they wound up! I miss the old shows.

I can understand why you feel that way, already having to deal with the same issues in your own life. However, for Me, I am home 24/7, and I so look forward to my reality tv shows. So my suggestion would be, to leave the reality tv, and you can change the channell. I am really not being nasty, but I would be lost without my reality. I do agree that we could use a few new comedys, have you tried watching 2 1/2 men? That show is awesome. What about the hallmark channel or tv land, tune in to those and watch some of the golden oldies. Hope this helps.

I agree! I must confess that I have never even watched a reality show more than an episode or two, as they have never really appealed to me. I DO love shows that 'take me away' from the everyday stresses of life; shows that inspire both the heart and the mind, shows that you ponder and talk to your girlfriend about over a cup of tea. And good comedies are hard to find. I miss Seinfeld!!!!

You are among a quickly growing group of the disenchanted with this genre of 'entertainment'. After looking at the first couple of episodes of "Survivor" (The first one), I lost interest in it simply because the premise was ridiculous. They market this kind of programming as "reality" because it appears to be unscripted and spontaneous...but...BUT...who can be that spontaneous around a flock of cameras, sound engineers, boom microphones and other staff charged with recording-for-broadcast...all this "reality"? Phooey!! It's all fake, and therefore a waste of everybody's time. Those who get hooked on it should face an obvious reality...They have no lives!!

I am sick of reality shows aswell. I always swear I will never look at them, but then everyone is talking about them and they are all over the papers.
I think a campaign should start to get rid of soaps too, on too often, and there are too many of them

I would be tickled pink if they got rid of them all permanently. Who watches those shows, anyway? I guess the problem is that all of the networks have run out of ideas for new shows. ABC has next to nothing to watch. NBC has little else. CBS is the crime show spree. And, Fox is the soft-porn network. We should all throw our tvs in the junk heap.

Agreed, but it won't happen, because too many people keep watching. This is fuelled by the gutter press, and the sort of people that buy such rags.

I agree, but my wife LOVES them. The problem is, they AREN'T reality. They are full of attractive, young people, who are put in situations that are designed to make them look ridiculous. Then, the producer creates a story of their own in the editing room. It's all a farce.
