Click on "Tools" > "Internet Options" > "Delete History" or "Browsing History" then "History" and "Delete" if you have Windows Vista. You may want to delete Temporary Internet Files too or Cookies which will log you out of anything that you are already logged into.

Try deleting your history. If you have a PC, you go to "Tools", then click on "Internet Options" then, click on the "General" tab, and under the History section, click "Clear History". Now, if you want to keep your history becasue it has important links in it, and you are using a shared computer, try making your own private User Account with a password that only you know. One other thing you could do would be, if you have a internet chip in your computer, when you leave the computer, you could just take it out so the internet isn't connected and no one can just snoop around your history. If you can't do any of those things, just try telling people not to look at it. Good Luck!!

It can be done manually or via a piece of software.
For the manual option you can delete your history on the options of your browser, also deleting the cookies and files will be a good idea.
Under C/Documents and Settings /YOUR USER NAME you will find a folder called MY RECENT DOCUMENTS which content should also be deleted. But if someone wants to look at your PC's history and they have the time and the access, they will find something, even if you use software to delete the history. Sorry.

Use a CD/DVD bootable "live" operating system such as knoppix, or damn small linux.
Once your done doing whatever it is, you can reboot and all history is gone.
Theres actually some specialised ones designed for the purpose of not leaving any history, but I don't have time to go into them right now.
